Sometimes I think of something wise, not necessarily original, but worth recording, such as: 1. We all have an exaggerated notion of ourselves. So-called heroes will tell you that the secret of their virtue (not to talk about their modesty) has been that they were fortunate enough to find something larger than themselves. True virtue, I think, consists of finding something smaller than yourself, devoting your life to it and not telling anybody.
2. According to Aristotle (Metaphysics A), humans, by nature, desire to know. According to Hegel, (Phenomenology of Spirit), humans desire to know that some other person knows that they know.
3. RACISM 101: There was once a man who hated all people whose last names started with the letter B. He would not talk to them, eat with them, hire them, or associate with them in any way. One day, his mind having fallen into a philosophical mood, his curiosity was aroused. To quench his thirst for knowledge in this matter, he approached Mr. Bernstein and asked: "Please tell me, why do I hate you so much?"
